Botox® Cosmetic and other neurotoxins including Dysport are popular treatments for a number of different conditions including the reduction of facial wrinkles, droopy brows, and excessive sweating.
Botox works well on facial lines and wrinkles, known as “dynamic rhytids” on the upper portion of the face and forehead, particularly those caused by muscles that are repeatedly over-contracted during facial expressions such as frowning or squinting. These injections have been very effective in reducing the appearance of frown lines, forehead furrows, “crow’s feet,” lines and wrinkles of the lower face, and even prominent vertical bands in the neck.
Botox temporarily relaxes the facial muscles in the treated area smoothing the skin’s surface and “removing” the wrinkling effect. The results can last for three to six months. Non-Botox neurotoxins such as Dysport are sometimes better for those wanting a more “gentle” correction.
